Care instructions for Thai pillows and Thai mattresses

A Thai pillow and a Thai mattress are durable and designed for daily use. The outer cover of strong cotton together with the Kapok filling makes them a popular accessory for both home and garden. However, there are a few simple points to keep in mind regarding use, storage, and care of these fine pillows and mattresses.

Daily cleaning and maintenance

To maintain the fresh feeling and the vibrant colors, we recommend vacuuming the product occasionally, depending on how much it is used. The cotton cover and Kapok filling breathe, and over time fibrous dust from the Kapok may pass through the outer cover. A quick vacuum refreshes the pillow and mattress easily.

All padded products we ship from our warehouse are inspected and pre-cleaned. Pillows and mattresses are vacuumed before they are packed and dispatched. Since the products are produced and finalized after order, Kapok dust may sometimes appear after transport of a few weeks in a container. This is completely normal, especially since the products are plastic-wrapped and transport-protected.

Spots caused by spills can be wiped with a damp cloth, preferably fabric. Be careful if using cleaning agents.

Seams and tears

Pillows and mattresses are made to be used, but some things should be avoided. The main section (the pyramid part) of Thai pillows should not be sat on, as this can damage the seams. Children often find these cushions fascinating – and we fully agree! However, they may try to jump on a folded pillow or the pyramid part, which should be avoided. A pillow or mattress should be used unfolded on a flat surface. If a seam breaks, it can easily be repaired with a simple needle and thread.

Indoor and outdoor use

All padded products can be used both indoors and outdoors. For outdoor use, we recommend avoiding direct rain during use or storage. A pillow and mattress can withstand moisture thanks to the Kapok filling’s natural ability to repel dampness. The products last best when stored correctly.
